Float the Horseshoe

Near Whitewater Amphitheater, this roughly one-mile bend of the Guadalupe usually takes about two hours to float, but timing varies greatly with the dam release. Local outfitters provide legal river access, parking, tubes, and a return shuttle.

Before you launch

  • Check the live dam release; low flow can mean a slow, shallow float.
  • Use an outfitter for parking and shuttle access; most riverbanks are private.
  • Wear river shoes, take a life jacket, and never bring glass or Styrofoam.
  • On concert days, Whitewater-area parking and last-launch times may change.
